Valentine’s Day Ideas for Couples
Sometimes buying Valentine’s Day gifts can be hard. Today I am talking about Valentine’s Day ideas for couples. Valentine’s Day is not a huge deal for my husband and I. We like to cook a nice meal at home and I of course make some kind of dessert. I love making desserts for holidays. Anyway, when we were dating we would go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. However, as a married couple, we would rather stay home.
I remember….gosh…at least 10 years ago a local town got a new Olive Garden. It was brand new at Valentine’s Day and I remember us going there and waiting over two hours to eat. It is funny to know how you change. We had barely hit our 20’s at this time. Now, we stay away from chain restaurants and would certainly not wait 2 hours to eat anywhere.
As far as gifts, we stay practical and do not go over the top. Of course, my husband can’t stand it if I “one-up” him on a gift…but we always agree to stay small. I would say that we are both good gift givers and always get practical things. Valentine’s Day is often my chance to buy something spring or summer related. After all, once Christmas passes…I’m ready for summer.
Valentine’s Day Gifts for Him
Nordstrom for me is kind of like Amazon Prime. I love free shipping and free returns and everything comes so fast. So, all of the gift ideas are from Nordstrom. You have plenty of time to order and get in by Valentine’s Day. My husband is a last minute kind of shopper…and sometimes I am too. So, I like options when I do wait.
- MVMT Leather Strap Watch 40mm – $120
- MVMT Chronograph Leather Strap Watch 45mm – $135
- MVMT Leather Strap Watch 40mm – $120
- Tommy John Second Skin Trunks – $32
- Fossil Artie Belt – $35
- Hunter Original Flip Flop – $45
- Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue – $67-$115
Lately, I have been obsessed with MVMT watches for both men and women. There are so many different styles to choose from and I just love all of them. My husband likes them because they are “nice” without being too dressy. Belts and boxers are always good small gifts. For some reason, Christopher is so hard on belts. They will be almost falling apart before he decides to get a new one.
Then, boxers…he likes nice boxers but is too cheap to pay alot for them. So, for almost every holiday, I will buy him a nice pair. The nicer ones feel better and hold up longer. As far as flip flops go….it is after Christmas and I am dreaming about warm weather and summer…so I had to include something summer related.
Flip flops are always a good choice. I mean, my husband lives in flip flops when the weather is right (and outside of work). I came across these and loved them. Last year I bought him some Havaiana’s and they have actually held up…which is an accomplishment because he is also super hard on his shoes.
Lastly, cologne is always a good go to gift. Christopher loves the Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue for men…which is funny because Dolce&Gabbana is one of my favorite perfumes as well.
Valentine’s Day Gifts for Her
Like I mentioned above, all of the Valentine’s Day gifts are from Nordstrom. Valentine’s Day is really a woman’s holiday…I’m sure most would agree. But, the way I see it, men like gifts too. I do think it is easier to find things for women than for men.
- MVMT Leather Strap Watch 38mm – $115
- MVMT Avenue Lexington Mesh Strap Watch 28 mm – $125
- Kendra Scott Elton Station Cuff Bracelet in Iridescent Drusy/Gold – $70
- Havaianas Slim Flip Flop in Rose Gold – $26
- Versace Bright Crystal – $75-$95
Because I am so in love with the MVMT watches…well I had to include them on the Valentine’s Day ideas for women as well. I LOVE both of these watches. Also…not sure if you know, but you can buy multiple bands for the MVMT watches (how awesome is that). Next, I included the Kendra Scott bracelet. I just recently bought my first item from Kendra Scott. I bought a pair of earrings because they are supposed to be hypo-allergenic and I have a hard time finding earrings. Anyway, I have this bracelet and it looks great paired with other styles and metal colors.
Like I mentioned above, I have to include a “summer” item. So, I chose to include a pair of Havaianas. I pretty much lived in mine last year. They are great for the beach but also look good with a casual t-shirt and shorts. Lastly, perfume, like cologne, is a great Valentine’s day gift. I bought this perfume several months ago and I am constantly told that I smell good. I love it and will buy it again.
Valentine’s Day Dessert
As you all know by now…I (my husband and I) love to cook. I particularly love cooking sweets. My weakness is cookies. Not only do I LOVE cookies, but I also LOVE cookie dough. So, this year for Valentine’s Day, I am going to do some chocolate covered strawberries in addition to No Baked Cookie Dough. No Baked Cookie Dough is a store in Nashville that has cookie dough and that SHIPS. I’ve never tried it but my mouth waters every time they post a picture of this dough on Instagram. So, I am going to order some so that we have it for Valentine’s Day.
I hope my Valentine’s Day Ideas for couples will help you choose the perfect Valentine Day gift. Happy shopping and happy early (super early) Valentine’s Day.
