Sunless Tanner Favorites
It is summertime and I think that pretty much everyone likes to have that summer “glow.” I know I do. Christopher and I pretty much live outside from mid April until the end of October. I tan very easily so despite me drowning myself in sunscreen, I do still tan and actually get pretty dark.
However, my face is another story. By now, anyone following me knows that I try to never let my face get in the sun. If I expose my face to the sun the dark spots get darker and I get all crazy looking and get a crazy mustache made of dark spots. So, I lather in zinc based sunscreen and wear a hat. Anyway…
I will start off with my favorite facial tanners because this is the self tanner that I use the most. I use a gradual tanner year around and something darker when my body is darker (so my face/body match).
Jergens Face Tanner
Year around I use the Jergens Natural Glow face in medium to tan. I like to use this year around because it helps me to keep a slight glow. I have natural medium color skin. However, my face is always lighter than my body because it is never exposed to sun.
The Jergens face glow is a small bottle that runs out pretty quickly if you use it all the time. However, it is super affordable so I do not mind replacing it as often as I need it.
St. Tropez Face Tanner
In the past I used the St. Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Everyday face cream in medium dark. I like this particular face tanner, but I think it is too expensive. It is $20 and comes in a tiny bottle. So, I was going through bottles too quickly to spend that much money.
Also – hint – you can use the St. Tropez everyday body moisturizer and I personally think it does the same thing. It comes in a bigger bottle and you get more for your money.
I will say that Tea to Tan Face and Body by Terry is one of my MUST have products. I just started using it in the spring and I already love it and cannot live without it. It is a water based bronzer that has antioxidants. It is amazing…but also expensive. This is not something I use daily when I am just at home. However, I use it on the weekends or anytime I am going out or laying by the pool/beach.
It gives a deeper glow vs what a daily gradual face tanner gives you. You can spray on as many layers as you wish until you reach your desired color. It has a shimmer to it as well so your face has a great glow after applying.
If I am just running errands or around the house on the weekend I will use this as my makeup and just add some concealer with it. It is so lightweight and does not clog your pores..it is just wonderful.
Makeup goes over it without a problem. It is great to spray on prior to going to the pool or beach. It will make your face look great without having to actually wear makeup. Oh, and for me, it makes my face match my body…which is my main goal. I am certainly not that person that puts on makeup before going to layout or go to the beach. The only reason you will find me wearing makeup during outdoor activities is if I had something to do prior to that required makeup.
HINT: Spray this on your face before you have clothing on or put a towel around your neck before spraying. If not, it will get on your clothing. I just spray it on and use a big brush to twirl it into my skin.
Sunless Tanner for your Body
I actually do not wear a lot of sunless tanner for my body. In the spring/summer/fall I always have a good natural color from being outdoors. Then, during the winter months and early spring…I just embrace my lighter color. However, in the event that we have somewhere to be or a vacation during the winter…I will use sunless tanner for that.
Again, Jergens natural glow daily moisturizer is a great affordable option that gives a decent color. The St. Tropez gradual tan is a little more expensive but is also great. I have both and use both. If I need something more than just a gradual glow, I will use the St. Tropez self tan bronzing lotion. It is my all time favorite true sunless tanner.
I bought Vita Liberata a while back. It is just OK. I find that it streaks much easier than the St. Tropez. It gives me a good color, but I think it would be a bit orange on someone with a fairer skin color. I would not buy it again but will use it while I have it.
