Spring Break in Turks and Caicos
Spring Break 2016 is just around the corner. It is is known for college students and young adults wanting to get away and have a good time. Spring break in Turks and Caicos should be something you are considering.
Panama City Beach, Florida is considered the “it” destination for spring break. As college students, we visited Panama City during spring break. We did not fit into the party scene that Panama City had to offer. At the time, we did not consider any other destinations.
There are in fact other alternatives to Panama City and the party scene it has to offer. We suggest going to spring break in Turks and Caicos. We wish we would have considered this back in college. Yet, who is to say that our parents would have let us out of the country alone.
Parents, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos is a safe place for anyone wanting to get away. If you are not into the party scene, then this is a great destination for you. We would say your children will get into less trouble in Turks and Caicos than Panama City.
Heavy party goers, this is probably not the place for you. Turks and Caicos is low key. We are not saying you cannot have a good time, but the party scene is pretty limited compared to Panama City. If you are low key college students (like we were), then you will have a wonderful time.
Yes, you can go to the beach and have a great time without all the late nights, parties, and excessive alcohol. You can go somewhere like Turks and Caicos and have a fun time on the best beach in the world.
Is it Affordable
College students reading this are wondering whether they can afford to go on a trip like this. Our answer is yes. Let’s be realistic, it is going to cost you. Yet, if you plan right, it is definitely a place you can afford.
If you have a small group going, you can save a lot of money by splitting a room. Make sure your room has a full kitchen. A full kitchen allows you to cook the majority of your meals in. You can set aside one night to go out.
What to Eat and Drink
Eating out adds up fast in Turks and Caicos. Not only does eating out get expensive but also the taxi rides to get there.
This is something you may have to sacrifice if on a tight budget like most college students and young adults. Eating in the room is a small sacrifice if you ask us. Getting to sit on those beautiful beaches is well worth staying in and cooking. Believe me. It is even worth not buying alcohol.
If you are looking to get drunk every day and party a lot, then this is not the trip for you. Drinking in excess would blow a budget through the roof in Turks and Caicos. Alcohol is super expensive on the island. We are not saying do not drink, you just need to drink in moderation so that it is affordable for you. Afterall, they have the best Rum Punch.
A spring break trip to Turks and Caicos can be budget friendly as long as you are not a heavy partier. We were lame college students. We just enjoyed spending the day at the beach and spending the nights in the room eating and playing cards. This is the type of college student you need to be if wanting to go to the islands and stay within a reasonable budget.
Remember, you can still have lots of fun being a lame college student. We are still pretty lame when it comes to partying and nights out. We take a quite dinner in or out versus the loud party scene every single time. The party scene is just not us. Never has been and still is not.
What To Do When the Money is Tight
Being a college student means not having a lot of money to spend. We could not have afforded to spend a fortune on a spring break trip. Luckily, the best activity in Turks and Caicos is free. The beach. You can enjoy it daily and free of charge. Did I mention it is the number one beach in the world?
As a broke college student you do not have to worry about having to pay for things to do after arriving on the island. You can just head down to the beach and enjoy it from sun up to sun down if you wish.
A great thing about Turks and Caicos is that most resorts offer a variety of beach activities at no charge. For example, many resorts have paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel equipment. You just sign them out and return when finished. It doesn’t get much better than that. Our favorite place to stay on the island thus far is Alexandra Resort. The rates are reasonable and they offer a great variety of activities.
