Dinner at Opus Wine Bar Grill
Our first time to have dinner at Opus in Turks and Caicos was this year in May. Each time we are on the island Opus has been on our list. But, somehow, it always fell through the cracks. We often left the island wishing we had eaten there. If I am being honest, this past year, after starting a blog, we decided we must make it our priority to visit as many places as possible each time we visit. After all, we want to be able to give our readers our honest opinions and experiences from each thing we do.
Dinner at Opus is amazing. We immediately fell in love with everything about the restaurant. Coco Bistro is our favorite dinner spot on the island and after eating Opus, we figured out it was our number two. After eating there we “kicked ourselves” for not trying it sooner. After all, we had been really missing out on some good food.
Where is Opus
Opus is in the Grace Bay area of Providenciales. It is located at the Ocean Club Resort. If you are on the east end of Grace Bay near the Venetian Resort, you can easily walk here. Otherwise, you will need a taxi unless you have a rental car.
The Atmosphere at Opus
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at Opus. We arrived after dark and the restaurant was beautiful. My husband made reservations and we were seated immediately upon arriving. We sat outdoors as we like to do as much as possible when on the island. The outdoor seating area is surrounded by palm trees and lights.
The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. We do not do well at being “quiet,” but are not “those people” either. We carry on our conversations as we normally would. Some people tell me they feel as though they shouldn’t talk in places like this. We do not let things like that bother us. I sent someone to Opus recently who said it felt so quiet but that it may have been because her husband had too much to drink and may have been a little louder than normal.
Dress Code
I feel like when you are on the island you can put on a cute sundress and be properly dressed for anywhere you may go. I would say that for guys you would feel better if you wore something more than a t-shirt to this restaurant. Sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get the hubby to wear a nice polo every night. He says he is on vacation and likes to be comfortable. You are not going to get thrown out of a restaurant for wearing a t-shirt. But, it always makes you feel better to be over dressed rather than under dressed – or at least it does me.
Appetizers
The one thing we love about Opus is their complimentary appetizers. Most places give you bread. Opus gives complimentary bruschetta. No, it is not unlimited like bread typically is but it is awesome. We love bruschetta and it is always nice to get something like this for free.
From the menu, we ordered the spicy chili steak wrap for an appetizer. The wrap is awesome. When we finished it we determined this was probably the best steak wrap we had ever eaten. The steak wrap would be great to add sides to and eat as your meal.
Main Course
For our dinner at Opus we ordered the 16oz bone in ribeye. The steak did not disappoint. My husband and I shared our meal as we always do and by the time we had bruschetta, tacos, and steak, we were stuffed.
We did not order dessert at Opus. Often times, we like to eat our meal at one place and try dessert at another. On this particular night, we had red velvet cake at The Palms.
Opus in Turks and Caicos
Dinner at Opus in Providenciales will not disappoint. As I mentioned, it is now one of our favorites. When we get asked “where do we eat” we always include Opus. The feedback that we get is always “we loved it.”
Like Coco Bistro, Opus has a great atmosphere, great service, and great food. I mean, what more could you ask for in a restaurant. The prices range from $8 for soup and up to $65 for a meal. At our meal, we spent $64 and shared an appetizer and a meal. The next time you visit the island, or if you are a newbie, add Opus to your list of places to visit for dinner.
If you are going during busy season, make reservations so that you have a spot! Happy Eating 😉
