Men’s Swim Shorts
A couple of weeks ago I did a blog post on my favorite swimsuits for 2017 for women. So, I thought this week I would do a post on my favorite men’s swim shorts for 2017. Like I mentioned in my post for women’s swimwear, it is a little early. I am sure there are going to be lots more cool swimsuits coming out for men and women, but these are some of my favorites thus far.
I feel like in the past my husband pretty much sticks to the traditional “swim trunk” vs the “board shorts.” However, this year, I am going out on a limb and buying him some boardshorts. There are some great styles out there and he needs to try them.
He had a pair of Polo boardshorts back in college that were too big when he bought them. Every time he wore them he almost lost them in the water ha. So, when I mention board shorts he is often like..”I do not like boardshorts they do not fit well.” Well..duh..if they are the right size they will fit.
His favorites in the past have been either The North Face or Columbia swim trunks. There is absolutely nothing wrong with either of these. I am sure I will buy him more this year in some different colors. But, this year, I am also going to be buying him some boardshorts and trying out some new brands.
Striped Swim Trunks
For some reason I am drawn to striped swim trunks. I know my husband is not the one to wear big colorful patterns, so I have to keep it simple. Stripes are simple. After rounding up some of my favorite (and what I think he will wear) swim trunks, I noticed that four out of the six were stripes.
I also like blues and greens for the beach. I even like the swim trunks that have fish and crabs and things like that on them. Again, he is not so much into that so I do not waste money on those styles.
Another thing to keep in mind when buying men’s swim shorts is the length of the shorts. I have to make sure I get shorts that are just right above the knee. He hates the shorty shorts for men..and so do I. However, the swim shorts cannot be too long either. I mean..who wants to look like they are wearing capri swim trunks? Swim trunks that are way too long is just not attractive. They need to have the right fit.
Men’s Swimwear Pricing
Like women’s swimsuits, men’s swimwear can be quite pricey. I refuse to pay $100 for a pair of swimming trunks. I mean, there are plenty of options at around $50 that look and feel just as good as the more expensive ones. I will go up to about $70ish and that is about it.
My Top Six Swim Shorts for Men
Hopefully my list of men’s swim shorts will help you find that perfect pair of trunks for this summer season. As mentioned above, none of these shorts are going to break the bank. They are all nice, stylish shorts that should fit most any simply style.
