Kitchen 218 in Turks & Caicos
Christopher and I visited Turks and Caicos in November. Before the trip, we decided that we would give some new restaurants a try. We say this every time we go, but end up going to our same favorites. I will say that we stuck to our plan this time and tried a couple new places while still fitting in our favorites.
Kitchen 218 in Turks and Caicos was on our list of new restaurants to try. I want to be completely honest with everyone because I want you to be able to read my posts and get an honest opinion. Anyway, after saying that…I just want to say that I was very underwhelmed with this restaurant.
Prior to going, I did not make reservations. However, they were very nice and had us a table quickly. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I cannot complain about service either. The service was great. Our waiter was very kind. By now, you are probably wondering what was bad about this place if the service and staff was great.
Food at Kitchen 218
The food is what we were very not impressed with. The prices are high. When I say high, we spent more there than at Coco Bistro. Spending more would have been fine if we would have enjoyed our food. Neither of us mind spending good money on the food as long as it is good. We started our meal off with a mixed drink – which was one of the best I had ever had. Again, it was expensive. I believe it was more than $15. We also started off with the jumbo lump crab cake as our appetizer. I did not pay attention to the menu when it said “a.” It was a single crab cake and was more than $18. For our meal, we did a fish. We just did not enjoy it. The proportion was super small and it was over $36.
Prior to your meal, you did get a selection of bread and butter and a small shot of soup. The bread was good for the most part. There was one type of bread that was so hard we could not eat it. The soup was awesome I must say.
- good atmosphere
- great service
- good drinks
- small proportions
- high prices
- very average food
Would I Go Back?
Kitchen 218 in Turks and Caicos is worth trying again. My husband and I would agree that we would go for breakfast or lunch vs supper next time. I believe that most things deserve a second chance. However, we ordered the only things we saw that we would want at supper the first time, which is why we would try it for breakfast or lunch the second go around.
Like I said above, Kitchen 218 has many positives…we just did not like the food.
