Fly to Providenciales
When traveling to Turks and Caicos, you typically fly to Providenciales. The flight to Turks and Caicos never gets old and is always breathtaking. We enjoy it almost as much as the trip. Well . . . not exactly but close. Flying in is just a reminder of the great time we have ahead of us.
We most often fly out of a small rural airport on a tiny plane. We fly into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Atlanta airport is large but easy to get around. We rarely have any problems and our flights are on time which is not always the case. We always get nervous when flying out. Who wants a delayed or cancelled flight on the way to Turks and Caicos? We would rather save that for on the way home.
PLS (Providenciales International Airport) and the beautiful beaches of Grace Bay are only a few hours away. Many major airlines fly into Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. The airlines include Delta, JetBlue, United, American Airlines, Air Canada, West Jet, and British Airways.
Providenciales International Airport is the only airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands that has scheduled international carriers. Most of these carriers are from the United States.
Once boarded, we breathe a sigh of relief. It is always fulfilling to board the plane on time and know that the beautiful Grace Bay is only a few hours away. Our flight to Turks and Caicos is usually ahead of schedule which is always a good thing. It is a good flight and goes by quickly.
While flying, we usually read a book or sleep. Once we get close to Providenciales, we put our things away so that we can enjoy the views. Flying into Turks and Caicos is magical. We are like children at Christmas every time. It never gets old. We like to look around and see the joy on everyone’s faces. All the faces are the same. Everyone is so happy. Everyone peers out the windows in amazement. After all, it is pretty amazing.
As you are preparing to land you will see some of the most beautiful blue and turquoise waters in the world. This is the point where we cannot contain ourselves or sit still. We are beyond ready to get off the plane by this point.
In a few minutes, you will have landed at Providenciales International Airport (PLS). If seated on the right, you will focus on the shallow turquoise waters of Sapodilla Bay and Chalk Sound. The water here is clear, shallow, and smooth. We love the views from the right side of the plane. Yet, you cannot go wrong with any of the views. Once landed, we are anxious to get off and for our time on the beaches in Turks and Caicos to begin.
PLS is a small airport that is easy to navigate through. You can throw a rock from one side to the other. As you walk through the doors of the airport there is an acoustic band playing. Their music is light and airy and sets the mood for the rest of the trip. The music immediately relaxes you and reminds you of the relaxing days ahead. The music screams “I am on an island and here to have a good time.”
Next, you will have to go through customs. After customs, you will go through baggage claim. Finally, you will exit the airport and take your preferred choice of transportation. We recommend booking your transportation ahead of time. We prefer to book our flights using Expedia or Hotwire. For our rooms, we use Expedia or VRBO.
